Experiencing a Dental Emergency? We Are Open!

You might be surprised to learn that almost all of the visits to hospital emergency rooms for dental emergencies could have been handled by a dentist for a fraction of the cost! Amber Hills Dental in Henderson, NV is open to take care of your urgent dental needs. Here are some of the things that are considered dental emergencies.

Damage to Teeth

Some of the most common dental emergencies involve various types of tooth injuries.

Knocked-Out Tooth

• Call us immediately if you lose a permanent tooth. The sooner we see you, the greater the chance that we can save your tooth. You can help by acting quickly. First, locate the knocked-out tooth, gently pick it up by the crown, and rinse it thoroughly to clean off any debris. If at all possible, reinsert the tooth back into the tooth socket. You can keep it in place by biting down gently on a piece of gauze. If that doesn't work, bring the tooth to our office in a container of milk. No matter what, we'll want to see you immediately.

Chipped Tooth

• If you can find the piece of chipped tooth, bring it with you in a container of milk. Sometimes the tooth can be bonded back together.

Cracked Tooth

• A cracked tooth isn't as urgent as a lost tooth but we'll still want to see you the same day. You can keep the area clean by rinsing your mouth with ½ c. warm water and ½ t. salt. This can help ward off infection.

Toothache

Tooth pain is a sign that something needs attention. It may or may not be an emergency but it's always better to give us a call and explain the circumstances. Tooth pain that is accompanied by a fever is considered an emergency. An abscess is a pocket that is filled with pus. This type of bump on the gums or around the tooth indicates infection and should not be ignored. There are some things that can cause a toothache that aren't emergencies but they should still be dealt with promptly. Even during "normal" times, Dr. Villamayor reserves some room in her schedule for same day appointments to alleviate dental discomfort.

Lost Filling

Lost fillings do not always require same day treatment but we want to repair them as soon as possible to avoid any chance for further decay. Plus, we know how uncomfortable it is to eat with a lost filling. Here's another time to employ the saltwater rinse. We'll see you as soon as possible to get the filling replaced.

Broken Restoration

Your dental implants and restorations are a substantial investment so if you are having trouble with one we want to see you as soon as possible to get them repaired.
